What better way to kick off my birthday weekend than with a beautiful cake at work?
This cake was rich. Billionaire rich. As in, dark chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse. You can't see the glitter in the photos, but those are disco flowers.
Saturday morning began with a special delivery from The Headless Hound's head. (Doesn't she have nice penmanship?)
My husband brought breakfast in bed and a lovely gift. He's the best.
Then I had my first ever Pumpkin Spice Latte, compliments of Starbucks. It was good, but it tasted like caramel, not pumpkin. I only drank about half of it because I'm not accustomed to sweetened coffee drinks.
We strolled around the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair, napped at home, then went to Tavern where we enjoyed the best meal we've had in L.A. There will definitely be a separate post about it.
On Sunday we took The Headless Hound for a long bike ride along the beach, then went to see The Social Network.
When we originally saw the trailers for it, we were like, why on earth would anyone want to see a movie about Facebook? And then we read the reviews and heard our friends rave about it, and we jumped on the bandwagon. I'm glad we did. It was excellent.
Lest you get the wrong idea from this post, my birthday wasn't glorious because of cake or presents or free stuff or fancy meals, but because of the wonderful people in my life. Hooray!
